When Sandile Mathebula of Mbombela, Mpumalanga, shared that Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is his favourite artist, we were convinced that this year’s Agri’s Got Talent Showcase would turn out to be an evening of deep emotions and remarkable storytelling.
“For me, classical music is theatre,” Mathebula, a general worker at Macdarin Farming, said. “I just love classical music and just love to sing it because it speaks to the heart in terms of emotions and feelings.”
This love inspired him to participate in the upcoming Agri’s Got Talent competition, for which he has something special planned for the audience. “If you are looking for a surprise, it is coming,” he said.
Mathebula will be singing his heart out as one of the top 10 finalists in this year’s Agri’s Got Talent competition. This prestigious platform gives South African farmworkers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their talents on a national stage and unlock incredible opportunities.
Family man
As one of nine siblings, Mathebula’s spirit was shaped by his family. Together, with his three-year-old daughter, family means the world to him.
“You are looking at a very strong individual in terms of personality. I bring a lot of enthusiasm,” he explained.
This young farmworker has a deep sense of purpose and sees himself becoming a farmer.
“I want to become one of the greatest farmers in South Africa, producing only quality products. Farming brings food to the table. Without farming, the world is nothing.”

First flight to Cape Town
As Mathebula prepares for the Agri’s Got Talent showcase in Cape Town, he is excited about travelling to the Western Cape.
“This is going to be my first time flying… And lastly, the championship. It’s going to be my greatest reward,” he said.
With a heart full of dreams and a voice ready to take flight, Mathebula is eager to showcase his talent and is planning to sing his heart out, much like his beloved Bocelli.
Book your tickets to watch Mathebula perform in front of judges for the Agri’s Got Talent 2024 title. The big gala final is set to take place in the Dawn Mountains in Simondium on Friday, 11 October 2024. Tickets for the event are available via Computicket.
