The agricultural management landscape is constantly evolving, and technology continues to play a pivotal role. Farmers Friend, a dedicated mobile application for empowering farmers, boasts a range of exciting new features and a renewed focus on user-friendliness.
A standout feature of the latest iteration of Farmers Friend is the introduction of activity summary and reporting. Wade Breytenbach, product manager at Farmers Friend, explains, “This feature allows users to summarise what they’ve spent and done on their farms and actually pull a report.”
This functionality equips farmers with comprehensive cost analysis and insights into individual land plots, empowering them to make data-driven decisions and optimise their operations for greater efficiency and profitability.
Access to finance and products
In addition, farmers now have access to a wide network. This expanded network encompasses financiers, product suppliers, and insurance providers, forging vital connections that underpin a supportive and collaborative agricultural ecosystem.
“We’re trying to address access to finance, access to products, and access to insurance,” Breytenbach says.
Recognising the challenges associated with technology adoption, Farmers Friend places a strong emphasis on user experience.
“We’ve implemented various features within the application to guide users, including tutorials and videos,” assured Breytenbach.
Meanwhile, a comprehensive tutorial guide, easily accessible within the app and online, ensures a smooth onboarding process for farmers of all technological backgrounds. This commitment to inclusivity and accessibility reaffirms Farmers Friend’s dedication to user-centric design.
Integral to Farmers Friend’s evolution is user feedback. Breytenbach explains, “We spend a lot of time with farmers to see how they do things, what works for them, and what doesn’t work for them.”
In this episode, he also discusses:
- Their user feedback function;
- What to look forward to and more.
