KwaZulu-Natal MEC of agriculture, rural development and land reform Super Zuma visited rural communities in the Ugu and Harry Gwala districts to address housing needs and bolster agricultural livelihoods.
Zuma handed over bulls to amakhosi from seven traditional authorities and livestock infrastructure to farmers within teh Ugu and Harry Gwala districts.
He visited several farming projects provided with boreholes, fencing material, tractors and animal handling facilities.
Reaching out to traditional council
Zuma was accompanied by the MEC for human settlements and public works, Sipho Nkosi, who handed over hand over keys to new homes and to launch housing projects worth R424 million in KwaJali and KwaMachi.
“We gather here today to herald a new dawn for our beloved community. Today, we stand united in our commitment to uplift and empower each and every family in KwaMachi,” Nkosi said.
Zuma, accompanied by a team of dedicated officials, said they stand at the threshold of opportunity. “With these bulls, we sow the seeds of prosperity, paving the way for a future filled with abundance and growth,” he noted.
Inkosi Machi expressed his gratitude for receiving the resources. “Our government has bestowed upon us the tools of transformation. It is now our duty to cultivate these gifts, to nurture them with care and dedication,” he said.
Machi highlighted the expensive food prices and encouraged his people to start growing vegetables.
“What our government has provided today will go a long way in preventing hunger. We have to multiply what has been given to us and grow our economy. Over and above the bulls, we have received farming implements, so let us work to make a profit,” Machi said.
