A two-year wait is over and livestock farmers can finally look forward to the first ever collaborative Nampo Alfa Livestock, Hunting and Outdoor Expo in the Free State this year.
Grain SA and Alfa – presenter of the well-known African Livestock Trade Fair – had decided in 2019 already to join hands and to present a new agricultural expo, but for the following two year, Covid-19 placed the plans on hold.
Now the two biggest role players in the industry will be hosting their first collaborative expo at Nampo Park just outside Bothaville from 29 September to 1 October 2022.
In a press statement released yesterday, the organisers say that Alfa has grown into the best livestock expo in the country in just four years. Because of the livestock industry’s evident growth, the next step would be to make it even bigger.
“And with years of successful shows against its name, Nampo Park is the ideal place where Alfa can spread its wings,” says Grain SA.
“Nampo Park already has good systems and infrastructure, including ample parking, kiosks, ablution facilities, livestock facilities and other venues that can not only accommodate this big event, but also facilitate opportunity for growth. In addition, the South African producer already feels at home there.”
Good livestock business
Alfa offers role players in the livestock industry excellent business networking opportunities, not just locally but across the African continent. The organisers promise another packed livestock programme this year.
Livestock activities will include beef and dairy cattle, small stock, pigs and goats. It will further include the National Beef Cattle Interracial Championships, the Junior Interracial Championships for agricultural schools, performance championships for large and small stock, and money maker qualifiers for large and small stock.
There will also be youth programmes with agricultural schools, while mini-expos with workhorses, working dogs, rabbits and poultry will also be back.
The organisers further decided to meet the need for a hunting and outdoor expo as complementing elements to the agricultural community, and visitors to the expo can expect a wide variety of exhibits and experiences in these sections.
