Renaldo Meyer has resigned as the CEO of the Free State Chamber of Commerce and Industry with immediate effect.
“The phrase ‘everything has its time and place’ has never been more apparent to me than [it is] today. It is bittersweet for me to announce that I will no longer be playing any further part in this particular chamber in the position [in which] I have been for the past two years,” Meyer said in a statement.
He said that his departure from the organisation, which coincides with the annual cyclical rotation of chairmanship and secretariat, comes after health and physical wellness difficulties in recent months. “Most of you know that my health and wellness has massively digressed and I am unfit to further lead such a dynamic and potentially powerful chamber.”
Meyer added that he had hoped to attend more meetings and engagements before his departure, but that he has realised since that this is not possible.
“The current chamber board will, in the coming weeks, communicate with Dr Jack Armour and related stakeholders in the Free State commercial farmers’ community.
“It was a real pleasure and an honour for me to serve on this forum and wish you everything of the best in taking the commercial farmers’ community and movement forward.”
