The face of agriculture is changing and John Deere wants to support the future of South Africa’s agricultural sector. In an interview, a month after this year’s Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba, Jaco Beyers, managing director for Africa and the Middle East at John Deere, shares his thoughts on youth in farming.
In this episode, he talks about food security and the important role of young food producers and technological innovation. He also celebrates the resilience of farmers.
“My dad used to say, what does not kill you makes you stronger. I believe that that is exactly our entire nation. We have a dynamic nation. When we put our mind to it we can achieve anything, these farmers are tenacious, they get stuff done,” he says.
In the episode, he also touches on grain prices and weather conditions.
