This week’s agricultural events include save the date for a wine tasting event, the Farming on Heels women’s gathering, the Karoo Ochse auction, Food For Mzansi’s farm management winter school, and a livestock auction. As we get deeper into Women’s Month, expect a wine tasting event, Farming on Heels gathering, two livestock auctions, and a farm management winter school to get all the techniques and guidance on how better to operate a farming entity.

Pinot Noir Association wine tasting

Mark your calendars! Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or just beginning your journey into the world of fine wines, this public tasting event promises a delightful experience for all. Get the opportunity to talk to winemakers about their passion for pinot noir.

Tuesday 13 August

Farming in Heels

Who said farming was all about working the land and being dirty? A women-led event, Farming on Heels, in partnership with Nestle Needs You, will host an event of prominent women farmers in South Africa to talk about opportunities in the agricultural space for women. They will also discuss the challenges they face, the gaps in the sector, and solutions that can be implemented.

Karoo Ochse auction

The Karoo Ochse will host their animal auction in Lichtenburg, North West where farmers in the area will auction their animals to the potential buyers.

Western Cape Dormer Auction

The Western Cape Dormer Auction will take place on Friday 16 August 2024, 11:00 at the Boland Agricultural High School in Paarl.

On offer:

  • 40 Top Dormer Rams (SP & Flock)
  • 30 SP Ewes (in all production stages)
  • 80 Commercial Ewes (in all production stages)
