Hello farmers! Be on the lookout for a jam-packed week ahead. The week starts off with a livestock auction in Devon, Mpumalanga, followed by the South African Sugar Technologists’ Association Congress meeting in Durban where all things sugar will be under discussion.
It is followed by Food For Mzansi’s Twitter Space, Gather To Grow on Wednesday, as well as the Sana Spring Fair Trade.
Thursday will see the South African National Seed Organisation (Sansor) hosting a virtual career information day, and the week ends off with the Eastern Cape Development Corporation hosting an export symposium for exporters and those interested to delve into the exporting market.

Devon Livestock Sale in Mpumalanga
The sale will take place from 11:00 at the Devon Auction Complex in Standerton and all types of livestock are welcome!
Conditions of sale:
- Only card, cash, or immediate electronic payments day of sale
- 1% Handling fee on cash payments.
- Electronic transfer facilities.
- Fica documentation with the registration process. All goods will be sold at a reserve price and the right exists to bid by or on behalf of the owner or auctioneer.

South African Sugar Technologists’ Association Congress 2023
The South African Sugar Technologists’ Association Congress promotes the exchange of scientific knowledge related to sugarcane agriculture and sugar milling practice. It is a premier event that receives significant recognition both within South Africa and internationally. During the congress, high-quality scientific papers and presentations showcase significant scientific and technological advancements in the industry.

Sana Spring fair
Sana hosts two trade fairs each year based in Knoppieslaagte (Midrand) and Durban respectively. Growers and Allied Trade suppliers use this opportunity to exhibit their products and services. These shows are growing in size and popularity and the Gauteng Trade Fairs are the most significant green industry fair in South Africa, with over 125 exhibitors and over 1000 visitors.

Sansor virtual career info day
The South African National Seed Organisation (Sansor) will host a virtual information day on opportunities that are available for people who want to venture into the seed industry, the virtual gathering will seek to also to unpack the benefits and challenges that are encountered and ways of navigating them under the theme: Start your career in the seed industry.

Eastern Cape Export Symposium
The Eastern Cape Development Corporation will be hosting an export symposium for exporters and those who want to go into the exporting market. The symposium will be an opportunity to know and understand the opportunities of exporting and what farmers and ago-processors could look out for and what are needed to export.
Eastern Cape Development Corporation’s commitment to grow the province’s significant contribution to global markets. The symposium brings together not only current and new local exporters but also international trade partners, trade policy experts, government support agencies, financiers, logistics and infrastructure role-players, under one roof.
