This week’s agri events: 20 – 24 July

Agricultural events to look forward to include livestock auctions in the Free State and Gauteng, and a piggery production course by Agri Skills Transfer. Young farmers will gather this weekend at the Morakeng Farm Camp for training, mentorship, and other opportunities

Dumelang farmers

Food For Mzansi, together with Overberg Suid-Kaap, will have a farmworkers’ day to equip workers with knowledge and skills to better themselves in their line of duty. The farmworkers’ day will take place on 22 September at Bredasdorp Park, and on 23 September at Roodebloem.

Monday 20 July

Royal Agricultural Show

A premier showcase of South African agriculture, the Royal Agricultural Show features livestock exhibitions, crop displays, farm machinery, and live demonstrations. Farmers, agribusinesses, and the public can explore innovations, attend educational workshops, and celebrate the country’s farming heritage. Networking opportunities connect producers, suppliers, and policymakers across the agricultural sector.

Tuesday 21 July

Livestock Auction

The production sale of Ferrero Bonsmaras (Kiewiet Ferreira & Nelius Ferreira) will take place on Tuesday 21 July 2026 from 11:00 on the farm Grootdraai in Harrismith, Free State.

On offer:

  • 40 SP bulls
  • 100 Commercial females

Piggery Course

Livestock Auction

The 18th Dexter Overvaal Club sale will take place on Saturday, 25 July 2026, from 11:00 at Fire and Wine, in Pretoria.

  • 5 SP bulls
  • 50 Female animals (all production stages)

Friday 24 July

Morakeng Farm Camp inspires future farmers

Young farmers from across the North West and neighbouring provinces will gather at Rre Serapelwane’s farm near Morokweng from Friday, 24 to Sunday, 26 July for the Morakeng Farm Camp 2026 Experience.

The three-day programme combines practical agricultural training, mentorship and career guidance, allowing participants to learn from industry experts while exploring farming, entrepreneurship and opportunities in the agricultural sector.
