As we wrap up October, we look once more time to agricultural activities taking place this week. We start off the week with an RMIS webinar, and then we move to a symposium on plant diseases in Stellenbosch.
The Free State department of agriculture is hosting roadshows on grant funding, and then we move to Pretoria for an Agri Skills Transfer open day for the 2025 academic year. We close our week with a reminder for the Agri Investment Indaba which will be held in Cape Town.

Soilborne Plant Disease Symposium
An annual awards ceremony recognising excellence in plant pathology and related fields, including best PhD awards, oral and poster presentations, and prestigious NSTF-South32 Awards.
It also features the 12th International Mycological Congress, Soilborne Plant Diseases Interest Group Symposium, and discussions on improving soil health and combating plant diseases for sustainable cultivation of bananas.

Wednesday 23 October
Grant Funding Roadshow
The department of agriculture and rural development in the Free State will embark on a roadshow across the province. The objective is to create a platform for extension practitioners in each district to assist farmers in filling out the application forms correctly and in the same venue.
When: 21 – 25 October
Venues: Bethlehem agri office, Trompsburg Xhariep district auditorium, Sasolburg agri office, Odendaalsrus agric office, and Thaba Nchu Agric office.

Agri Investment Indaba
The African Agri Investment Indaba (AAII), hosted by the Western Cape government, is the global meeting place for agrifood investment in Africa.
It brings together over 800 key stakeholders from governments, banks, financiers, investors, project owners, project developers, commercial farmers and the agro and food processing industry to discuss trends that will likely influence food and agribusiness economics over the next decade in Africa.
