On Wednesday, we have Food For Mzansi’s Twitter space Gather To Grow, where industry experts share their insights on different topics and farmers engage with them live.
On Thursday, there is a Family Farming Masterclass, where farmers will learn about working on a family farm. We close the week off with a second livestock auction, also in Badplaas, Mpumalanga.

Family Farming Masterclass
While the intimacy of a family structure no doubt plays a crucial role in the resilience of South African farms, a father-and-son (or daughter!) team can also present unique challenges if not properly understood and correctly managed. There will be seven family farming conferences across South Africa. These gatherings will be based on Theo Vorster’s best-selling book “Family Farming in South Africa”, where the common successes between some of South Africa’s leading family farms are identified and discussed. While family businesses remain remarkably successful business models if correctly managed, it remains tragic when an inter-generational asset spanning generations comes to nought simply because succession is poorly executed.
Time: 08:00 am – 14:00
Venue: Bloemfontein
