On Tuesday, you can join the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Codex Secretariat for their online celebration of World Food Safety Day. If you are based near Polokwane and you want to buy some livestock, head over to the Pietersburg Auction Centre to place your bid.

South African Large Herd Conference 2022
In its twelfth year, the annual South African Large Herd Conference, hosted by the Milk Producer’s Organisation, focuses on the country’s dairy farmers and the issues specific to their trade. The conference will unpack topics including Systems Management, strategies for change, and operations management, amongst other things. Delegates can also look forward to happy hours, cocktails, and virtual farm tours.
The two-day event, themed “Post-disruption: the road to robustness”, takes place at the Champagne Sports Resort in Drakenstein, KwaZulu Natal, and features many speakers and exhibitions.

Food safety across the world
Tuesday is World Food Safety Day, and to celebrate, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, and the Codex Secretariat is holding an online event exploring the various aspects of food safety. The event features two parts, and will unpack food system transformation for better health, sustainable production, and consumption of safe foods in different settings.

Apply for a scholarship with Cheeba Academy
Cheeba Academy, along with Agricolleges and The South African Agri Initiative (SAAI), is offering underprivileged South Africans the opportunity to learn more about cannabis and hemp production. They are offering a scholarship for the year-long, online National Certificate in Plant Production: Cannabis and Hemp course. included in the scholarship is a seven-day practical at a cannabis farm in Gauteng.
The scholarship includes the full tuition fee for the course, as well as transport, food, and accommodation for the seven-day practical.

ENSAfrica, Woolworths, and AgriSA are hosting an online webinar focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations for the agribusiness sector. The webinar aims to unpack how investors are more and more, preferring to invest in businesses that consider issues like climate change and sustainability, and the opportunity this opens up for sustainability-focused businesses. Leading the discussion are speakers from Woolworths and ENSAfrica.

Polokwane Livestock Auction
Vleissentraal Bosveld is hosting a production auction at the Pietersburg Auction venue in Polokwane, Limpopo. On offer are 86 animals, including 16 Savanna rams, 60 Savanna ewes, 3 Van Rooy rams, and 5 Van Rooy ewes. You can join the auction in person, or online at SwiftVee. Registration ends on Thursday, June 9 at 17:00
