Team Food For Mzansi is still celebrating the incredible achievement of its journalist Tiisetso Manoko, who was honoured with the prestigious 2023 IFAJ-Alltech Young Leaders Award.
Each year, the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists acknowledges talented individuals like Manoko for their exceptional professional skills and leadership potential. The award was presented in Alberta, Canada where he participated in a global meet-up and IFAJ congress.
Manoko was recently promoted to news editor at Food For Mzansi.

Being a journalist in agriculture
In the episode, Manoko discusses his remarkable career spanning over a decade in media.
“For me, it has been an eye-opening and a learning experience. It continues to be a learning experience learning [about] the commodities, politics in agriculture, and engaging farmers,” he says.
He furthermore delves into the experience of travelling abroad for the very first time. Manoko shares what it was like meeting new people within the industry and learning from like-minded people from various parts of the world.
“All the continents were represented. I was the only one from South Africa, but there was also a representative from Malawi and other representatives from Africa,” he explains.
During his stay in Canada, he also got to learn about agricultural technology that improves livestock and much more.
