If you live on Twitter or, even worse, on TikTok with your kids, chances are you have seen the internet going crazy with the #dontrushchallenge. No? You really, really missed it?
It all started in the United Kingdom when a group of young women used “Don’t Rush”, that cool song by Headie One, Young T and Bugsey, for a video in which they transformed themselves. Since then it’s literally taken the world by storm. From the United States to the Netherlands, Belgium and Kenya, you name it…
Everybody did it, including Mzansi’s very own celebrity chefs Zola Nene, Nti Ramaboa, Lorna Maseko, Mogau Seshoene, Zanele Van Zyl and Liziwe Matloha.
What’s the deal? Basically it’s the result of a worldwide coronavirus lockdown. It is also what happens when boredom and creativity meets a makeup brush. And the message is clear: stay at home to help curb further spread of covid-19. Many of the online videos used the #stayathome.
Why not try this with some of the people you’re currently in lockdown with? You will have to get out of your PJ’s first and dress up in your finest outfit with killer makeup. Oh, the male version of the challenge has also since taken the internet by storm. Our fave Mzansi DJ’s, including DJ Fresh, Shimza, Mo Flava and DJ Cleo, have also taken up the challenge opting to use headphones rather than the popularised makeup brushes.
