The aim of biological solutions for growers, big and small, is to provide farmers with tried and tested ways to achieve healthier crops and increased yields. This ultimately makes a difference in the lives of farmers, improving the quality of food for consumers, and contributing to food security.
That is exactly what biological solution-driven company Andermatt Madumbi does. Michelle Lesur, CEO of Andermatt Madumbi, chats about the company and how they work with nature to develop market-leading biological solutions that solve some of the most pressing questions in the modern agricultural environment, such as food safety and food security.
What are biological solutions?
“In agriculture, [biological solutions] refers to [products] that contain living organisms, bacteria, fungi. nematodes, insects, plants or extracts of these organisms. Most typically these would be a fertiliser or pesticide product, however, instead of a ‘chemical’ active ingredient the product will contain a ‘living’ active ingredient,” Lesure explains in the podcast episode.
She also talks about how using biologicals successfully requires greater attention to detail on the farm. Accurate scouting for pests can ensure earlier applications, which are essential to keeping pest populations at manageable levels. To learn more about Andermatt Madumbi, visit their website.
In this episode, Lesur also discusses:
- Using biologicals in an integrated program with synthetic chemistry;
- The importance of reading labels on registered biological products; and
- Success stories.
