We start the week with a livestock sale in Devon, Gauteng, followed by a marathon of events by the Agricultural Writers’ Association South Africa during the week.
On Wednesday, we have our official weekly date on Food For Mzansi’s Gather To Grow Instagram Live. On Thursday, we have a few awards ceremonies lined up for you: two in Johannesburg, namely the Young Farmer New Harvest Awards and the Khula Awards. We also have the ARC National Master Dairyman Awards in Durbanville, Cape Town.

Agricultural Writers South Africa
The Agricultural Writers South Africa will host their annual general meeting on the 18 November with members across the country expected to form part of the meeting.
The annual general meeting is expected to examine pressing matters involving the agricultural sector and the writers, communicators and public relations officers. From Thursday, there are different events taking place.

Toyota South Africa and Agri SA will be hosting the Young Farmer, New Harvest, and Communal Farming Association Awards.

ARC National Master Dairyman
This prestigious competition celebrates outstanding performance by South Africa’s top commercial and smallholder dairy farmers and is recognised by key stakeholders as a highlight of the country’s agricultural calendar. The event is being hosted by Agri-Expo, on behalf of the National Milk Recording and Improvement Scheme of the Agricultural Research Council.

Prepare for the Introduction to Permaculture course
The Introduction to Permaculture course is designed for anybody interested in gaining the know-how and confidence to plan their sustainable food garden.
The course is hosted by Emilia Domagala, a permaculture designer, consultant and facilitator, and a sustainability lecturer at Cheeba Cannabis Academy. She was the co-director of Sustainable Abundance Permaculture for seven years.

Agricultural Writers South Africa
As part of the Agricultural Writers Association SA’s build-up to the annual general meeting, in partnership with CropLife, there will be continuous professional development sessions on science writing and training on compiling multimedia stories which will take place once more this year.

Later in the evening, the Agricultural Writers SA will host their awards ceremony aimed at recognising farmers and media writers who have made strides in the agricultural sector.
