For Agri Enterprises and their women in agricultural development programme in collaboration with Momentum Metropolitan, it has been an incredible year.
These two organisations have a strong commitment to Mzansi’s agricultural development. Momentum Metropolitan Youth Employment portfolio head Nkosinathi Mahlangu updates us about the progress made this year.
A breakthrough for women
Mahlangu delves into the impact of this empowering initiative and the transformative journey this group of women has been on.
“We are taking [60 women] through the process of capacitating, helping them grow their business through mentorship, and most importantly break into those difficult access markets,” he explains.
He extensively explores several challenges the KwaZulu-Natal-based project encountered, emphasising the intricacies of recovery initiatives necessitated by unforeseen events. This discussion also examines the repercussions of the bird flu outbreak and the tailored support mechanisms designed specifically for women involved in the poultry industry.
While reflecting on the impact of 2023, Mahlangu looks forward to achieving many more milestones in 2024, committed to bringing women along on this journey. There is always room for improvement, especially within the programme, and Mahlangu envisions greater market access opportunities for next year.
