In this episode of Farmer’s Inside Track, Dr Josef van Wyngaard, acting national technical manager at Voermol Feeds, unpacks their Dundee Lick Concentrate.
The protein concentrate holds several benefits and Gauteng livestock farmer Hlobisile Yende can attest. She started using the product this year and has witnessed great results.
What is a Dundee Lick product?
According to Van Wyngaard, Dundee Lick is a protein concentrate, therefore it cannot be fed as is. “You need to mix your salt and maybe maize,” he explains.
Furthermore, Van Wyngaard expresses the importance that Dundee Lick is specifically for cattle only. “Dundee Lick cannot be fed to your small stock, there’s a risk for them.”
This episode shares the differences between Voermol Premix 450 and Dundee Lick Concentrate and how the two products complement each other. “The protein content of Dundee Lick is 80% compared to your Premix 450 which is 45%, so it is almost double,” he says.
There’s a plethora of health benefits when it comes to the product too, so don’t miss out. “If you look at the nutritional value of Dundee Lick, when you are mixing it with salt, you are creating a Premix 450 mixture,” Van Wyngaard explains.
The purpose of the Dundee Lick concentrate is to provide protein for animals during the winter period.
In this episode, Van Wyngaard also discusses:
- Health benefits;
- Supplementation information; and
