In the journey of life, some see adversity as a roadblock and those who see it as a stepping stone. Moji Kodisang, a beacon of resilience and determination, embodies the latter. Her story is not just about farming; it’s a testament to the human spirit’s ability to conquer challenges and soar beyond limitations.
From scepticism to belief
Kodisang, the founder of Milton Agricultural Primary Cooperative, embarked on a path less travelled. Her journey into agriculture wasn’t born out of childhood dreams or initial enthusiasm. It evolved from scepticism to belief, from reluctance to passion.
Her story is one of transformation. Initially hesitant about farming, her perception shifted when she recognised the potential and the need for patience. She transitioned from being a sceptic to an active participant in her husband’s agricultural endeavours. With time, her role evolved and she soon became a driving force in their agribusiness.
What followed wasn’t an easy ride. Challenges seemed to lurk at every corner – from financial setbacks to the heart-wrenching loss of hectares of soil, Kodisang and her husband faced numerous obstacles. Despite these hardships, they remained unwavering in their determination to sow the seeds of success.
A shining light
Amid adversity, Kodisang’s indomitable spirit shone through. Her commitment to her farm, community, and dream didn’t falter. She persevered, seeking opportunities for growth, learning, and networking. Her acceptance into the 2023 cohort of the Corteva Agriscience Women Agripreneur Programme became a turning point, a chance to enhance her skills, build networks, and further her knowledge in agriculture. The programme is presented in partnership with the GIBS Entrepreneurship Academy.
This #SoilSista’s dedication extended beyond her farm gates. She became a beacon of hope for her community, offering support, services, and guidance to fellow farmers. Her vision expanded beyond personal success; it encompassed the upliftment and empowerment of those around her.
Her advice to aspiring female farmers echoes her journey – emphasising the importance of passion, patience, and the continuous pursuit of knowledge.
