The United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference features the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26). The topic that the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will present across conference events, is the promotion of small-scale producers in climate change adaptation, mitigation and creating resilient food systems.

Enhancing food security through satellite data
Panellists from the University of Maryland, Columbia University, and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) are discussing how satellite data can be used to adapt agricultural strategies, and thus to enhance food security. Topics under discussion include using satellite and weather data to support the provision of agricultural insurance and how climate services can be used to guide and inform decision-making and policy development in the agricultural sector.

Applications towards commercialisation close in ten days
The department of agriculture, land reform and rural development (DALRRD) is inviting qualifying farmers to apply for support from the Jobs Fund programme. The purpose of the support is to move smallholder farmers into commercialisation. If approved, half the funding will be in the form of a grant and the other half in the form of a loan. Applications close at midday on 15 November 2021.
