Ben Otukile’s solution for issues like poor conditions and unexpected illnesses is Voermol Feeds. With customised feeding plans, he now ensures year-round health and optimal growth for his cattle and goats, even in tough conditions.

Passion, perseverance, and reliability have fuelled Ben Otukile’s success. A man of many talents, Otukile manages Otukile and Sons Farming, where he cultivates maize, soybeans, dry beans, and sunflowers, while also breeding top-quality Bonsmara cattle and Kalahari Red goats.

Located in Lichtenburg, North West, Otukile’s operation reflects his high standards. Over 90% of his Bonsmara cattle are registered with the SA Stud Book.

His Kalahari Red goats and Dorper sheep are also registered, further showcasing his commitment to quality. However, behind this remarkable success stands a trusted partner—Voermol Feeds.

Voermol products have become indispensable to Otukile’s farming enterprise.

“I started using them on both my cattle and goats, and so far, I’m more than happy with the results,” he says.

For his cattle, Otukile uses Voermol Premix 450/Dundee Lick Concentrate and a range of fattening concentrate products like Super 80 and SB 100. These products help him maintain optimal condition for his livestock, even during the harsh winter months when grazing is sparse.

Otukile highlights the impact of Voermol Super 18 on his goats: “The good thing about it is that it’s a ready-mix, and it helps me keep condition throughout summer and winter.” Voermol has also helped him avoid common issues like diarrhoea in his goats. “Since I started using Super 18, I’ve never had any problems. The product is good, and I’ll continue using it.”

Tailored nutrition for healthy goats and lambs

His meticulous approach extends to breeding as well. During the breeding season, he prepares his goats for lambing by mixing Maxiwol concentrate with maize and salt, following a ration plan he designed with a Voermol representative.

The result? Healthy growth for both the mothers and their young. For instance, Otukile proudly notes that his ram lambs reach an impressive 60 kilograms by six months.

For his cattle, Otukile’s experience with Voermol continues to bear fruit.

“I use Super 18 on the heifers to give them condition. And during the long winter, I’ve been using Premix 450 with maize to ensure my cows, heifers, and calves are in top condition for the breeding season.”

Trusting Voermol for future growth

As he prepares for his first summer using Voermol Superfos lick, Otukile is confident that Voermol’s products will continue to play a key role in his success. Whether it’s conditioning young bulls or supporting his breeding season, he relies on the performance and quality Voermol provides. “I will continue using Voermol Feeds for the unforeseeable future,” he says with conviction.

Ben Otukile’s journey proves that excellence knows no limits. With Voermol Feeds by his side, he not only grows food but also inspires future entrepreneurs with his relentless drive and success in the agricultural world.
