Emmanuel Mudau, a dedicated livestock farmer from Limpopo, shares the remarkable impact that Voermol Feeds has had on the success of his farming operation. In this insightful episode, Dr Josef van Wyngaard of Voermol Feeds unpacks their Voermol sheep and goat protein lick and the Voermol Premix 450, designed to optimise livestock health and productivity.

Van Wyngaard explains that Voermol Feeds is synonymous with quality, offering products that cater to different livestock species and production systems.

“We’ve got a product for each circumstance and each area, each season. We like to cover basically everything to do with animal feed to make sure that the customer can benefit from that. We try to fill each nutritional gap on the farm,” he says.

He shares that farmers can select from a range of over 45 products. Voermol Feeds offers solutions tailored to each specific livestock need, making them an essential partner for farmers across South Africa.

Benefits of products

When it comes to the Voermol sheep and goat protein lick, Van Wyngaard shares that this innovative product supports body weight maintenance and enhances digestion, especially in harsh conditions. It contains vital minerals, vitamin A, and protein sources that stimulate the intake of low-quality roughage, ensuring better nutrition for sheep, goats, and even cattle.

Their Voermol Premix 450, a long-standing product is a ready-mix maintenance lick formulated for cattle.

“It’s got a high content of urea, which helps the microorganisms in the rumen stimulate intake of low-quality roughage,” Van Wyngaard explains assuring that farmers can expect to see results after a full season of using these products.

According to Mudau, Voermol Feeds gave him a market edge and revitalised his farm.

Speaking about their products, Mudau says: “Even their immune system is always strong because they are getting a lick when they come back. We do extensive farming, they are in the bush the whole day. When they come back, they get the lick, [and] they maintain their body condition. Our animals are always shining.”
