With Cotton South Africa’s World Cotton Day webinar less than a day away, now really is your last chance to register to attend and celebrate this unique fibre with global cotton leaders.
The much-talked-about webinar scheduled to go live at 15:00 on Wednesday, 7 October, promises to be a cotton spectacle of note. Registrations are free and the first 50 South African participants to register stand a chance to win a hamper.
The online event under the theme, “Celebrating the uniqueness of cotton, the only crop that is both a fibre and a food crop”, will see local and international cotton leaders gather in celebration of this unique fibre.
This year, Cotton SA has decided to go big with two key events that will be running concurrently. First up, is a live-streamed webinar facilitated well-known presenter and Food For Mzansi co-founder Ivor Price.
International speakers include the director of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) from Washington as well as the UK-based Lisa Barrett, who is the operations manager at BCI Africa.
Attendees will also hear from local speakers like Hennie Bruwer, CEO of Cotton SA, Lawrence Pillay, global head of sourcing quality & innovation for Woolworths South Africa and Country Road Group Australia, Phillip du Plessis, John Deere territory manager and Tanya Aucamp, independent communication specialist for Cotton SA.
The event will focus greatly on the sustainability of cotton and other facts on cotton production, countering the many industry myths. Global cotton trends with a primary focus on the local trends, coupled with the current status and challenges farmers are faced with will also form part of the day’s discussions. Farmers and industry role-players will also benefit from tech talk and discussions of crop management.
Concurrently with the webinar, Cotton SA will be hosting a group of journalists for a face-to-face media engagement session. During the media event, the invited guest will have the opportunity to join the webinar and ask questions.
Furthermore, two cotton focused programmes, one in English with Tony Ndoro as host and one in Afrikaans with Theo Vorster as host will be broadcast on www.techterrain.co.za.
