Giving an overview of where John Deere ‘s is going when it comes to technological advancement, Sheopershad says that in 2020 John Deere made a global shift and realized technology is a key part of where the company needs to head.
Investment and research
“We moved from a manufacturer to a smart industrial company, where we focus on technology as well. During that journey, we started putting more investment and more research into technology.
“As a whole, our ambition and goals are to look at automation and autonomy, so that means having driverless machines so they can run longer in the field.”
He also explains their focus on how data is captured on the field and how it is used.
Listen up new-era farmers
Further in the episode, he breaks down current John Deere technologies, and what embracing technology and innovation means for a new-era farmer.
For new-era farmers, the John Deere operation centre offers a comprehensive solution. By utilising JD Link to connect your tractors, all pertinent data can be seamlessly pulled and managed within the operations centre.
Recognising that data is crucial for informed decision-making, the platform allows you to effectively oversee your fleet. With it, Sheopershad explains that farmers gain precise insights into their fleet’s location, completed tasks, and outstanding work. This empowers the farmer to make informed decisions for efficient farm management.
“If you think about new-era farmers if they have contracting work as well, they can use that for billing. And then you can also manage your farm you can set up your field your boundaries, and plan what you’re going to do next,” he says.
