It’s a brand-new week and all agricultural roads led to this year’s Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba hosted by Food For Mzansi and John Deere.
But first, the week starts with a livestock sale in the agricultural town of Standerton, Mpumalanga. Tuesday offers another livestock auction in Free State. On Wednesday, Food For Mzansi’s young farmer’s event kicks off, promising to be bigger and better than last year. Toyota SA and Agri SA are also hosting the New Harvest of the Year Competition 2023.
On Thursday, Mpumalanga farmers are invited to a livestock sale, while Friday offers a farmers market in celebration of Youth Day.
Monday, 12 May
Livestock sale in Mpumalanga
In Standerton in Mpumalanga, there will be a livestock sale from 11:00 at the Devon Auction Complex. All types of livestock are welcome.
Conditions of sale:
- Only card, cash, or immediate electronic payments day of the sale
- 1% Handling fee on cash payments.
- Electronic transfer facilities.
- Fica documentation with the registration process.
- All goods will be sold at a reserve price and the right exists to bid by or on behalf of the owner or auctioneer.

Livestock sale in the Free State
141 Boer goats and 2000 longtail lambs are up for sale n behalf of HG Muller. The sale takes place on Tuesday, 13 June 2023 from 11:00 on their small holding in Frankfort.
On offer:
- 60 Rams.
- 8 Ewes (lambs teeth).
- 12 Ewes (2-tooth).
- 19 Ewes (4 to 6-tooth).
- 42 Ewes (full mouth).

Young Farmers Indaba
Food For Mzansi is excited to host the coolest farmer’s event of the year. This year’s edition will be hosted at an iconic venue in Johannesburg and farmers can expect an unforgettable event packed with networking opportunities, educational sessions, and exhibitions.
This two-day event, promises to be an unforgettable experience for over 400 of the nation’s finest young farmers and agripreneurs.

2023 Toyota-Agri SA farmer competition
Toyota SA is hosting the New Harvest of the Year Competition 2023. The New Harvest competition is aimed at individuals who have owned or managed a farm for five years or longer and overcame a disadvantaged background to become successful farmer.
In this regard, Toyota SA is sponsoring the winning farmer with a new Toyota Hilux bakkie while the winning developing institution (nominator) will be awarded with a cash prize of R10 000.

Livestock auction
Farmers are invited to a livestock auction in Ermelo, Mpumalanga. The event starts at 11:00 and finishes at 17:00. All kinds of livestock are available for auction.
