Compliments for the new year, farming community!
As the year’s events kick off, we look at some of the agricultural activities that are set to take place in the coming weeks. For those interested in learning more, we start with a marketing for agribusiness course, as well as a goat farming course. This is followed by a livestock auction on Wednesday.
The week wraps up by saving the date for a farmers market camp, and don’t forget to save the date for the big and popular Food For Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba in April! Get your early bird tickets now!
Monday 13 January
Marketing for small agribusiness course
The course aims to help farmers who often neglect marketing their produce, hindering agricultural performance. Lack of connections to markets, organisation in groups, and infrastructure weakens their bargaining power. Rural areas suffer from underdeveloped agro-processing industries, weak infrastructure, poor financial services, inadequate transportation, weak institutions, lack of standardisation, quality control, and insufficient agricultural support policy.
When: 27 – 31 January
