Call for abstracts: SAIAE and PASAE International Symposium

Researchers and professionals in agricultural engineering are invited to submit abstracts for the SAIAE and PASAE International Symposium, set for 23 to 25 October 2024. Abstracts, no longer than 300 words, should be submitted to senzo@saiae.co.za or londiwe@saiae.co.za by 16 August 2024

Researchers and professionals in agricultural engineering are invited to submit abstracts for the upcoming SAIAE and PASAE International Symposium, scheduled for Wednesday, 23 to Friday, 25 October 2024 at the Houw Hoek Hotel in Grabouw, Western Cape.

This prestigious event, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the South African Institute of Agricultural Engineers (SAIAE) in collaboration with the Pan African Society for Agricultural Engineering (PASAE), promises to be a milestone gathering of industry experts and innovators.

Showcase innovations in agricultural engineering

The SAIAE and PASAE Council seeks contributions that showcase the latest techniques, tools, and innovations in agricultural engineering. Presenters have the opportunity to share their work on a diverse range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Fourth Industrial Revolution
  • agricultural mechanisation and appropriate technology
  • aquaculture and hydroponics
  • circular economy
  • climate change
  • energy management
  • farm road design
  • food engineering and post-harvest management
  • food and fibre production processing
  • use of artificial intelligence in agricultural engineering
  • hydrology and dams
  • irrigation design and management
  • big data and Internet of things (IoT)
  • packaging and packing facilities
  • automation
  • precision agriculture
  • renewable energy
  • soil conservation

Submission guidelines

Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words and must include a suitable title, as well as a photo and contact details of the author. The abstract submission form can be downloaded here.

Email submissions to senzo@saiae.co.za or londiwe@saiae.co.za with the subject line “Symposium Abstract” by Friday, 16 August 2024.
