The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) has been recognised as a top employer for the year 2024, showcasing its commitment to human resources (HR) practices. The certification symbolises a dedication to creating an improved work environment by aligning with industry-leading HR policies.
The Top Employers Institute, a globally recognised authority, evaluates and certifies organisations based on their participation in the HR Best Practices Survey. This comprehensive assessment covers six HR domains and 20 critical topics such as people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, diversity, equity and inclusion, and well-being.
The ARC’s successful certification highlights its continuous efforts to improve people management practices and benchmark against industry leaders.
Dr Litha Magingxa, the CEO and president of the ARC, expressed his enthusiasm for the renewed certification, emphasising its significance in acknowledging the vital role played by the institution’s employees. He said, “This certification goes beyond a mere acknowledgement; it signifies our pledge to cultivate and enhance practices that value and empower our employees at all times.”
Magingxa highlighted the indispensable role employees play in driving the ARC’s mission and success, making this recognition a testament to its commitment to creating a workplace culture that prioritises and appreciates the invaluable contributions of its workforce.

Dr Hilton Vergotine, acting group executive for human capital, echoed Magingxa’s sentiments, emphasising the accomplishment’s significance. He stated, “The 2024 certification serves as a clear indication of the ARC’s ongoing efforts to create an attractive and fulfilling workplace environment, setting a standard for excellence in human capital management within the country.”
Vergotine stressed that this recognition positions the ARC as a preferred employer, adding that employees are the organisation’s most important asset.
Globally, the Top Employers Institute has certified and honoured 2 052 Top Employers across 121 countries and regions spanning five continents. The ARC’s successive certification solidifies its standing as a leader in prioritising its workforce, maintaining a commitment to industry best practices, and fostering an environment that attracts and retains top talent.
