On Tuesday, the department of agriculture and rural development in the Free State meets with farmers to discuss pressing issues. This is followed by an undercover farming conference on Wednesday, hosted at the CSIR International Convention Center in Pretoria.
Thursday, it is time to put your thinking caps on for a training session on farming sustainability. Then the week closes off with the launch of the all-important cannabis paper.

AgriCareers roadshow kicks off
Food For Mzansi is in Limpopo to kick off the first leg of this year’s AgriCareers roadshow.
From scientists, veterinarians, accountants, journalists and marketers, participating learners are introduced to young professionals who will share more about their careers and study choices.
The AgriCareers roadshow is also coming to a high school near you soon. Educators who represent high schools in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng can already register to participate with other provinces soon to follow.

The department of agriculture and rural development invites all farmers to meet with MEC Thembeni Nxangisa. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the impact of Eskom’s power cuts on the agricultural sector.

Undercover Farming Conference
The Undercover Farming Conference is back!
Farmers will be able to network with industry experts and can expect discussions around hemp cultivation, automation, pest management, crop insurance, innovation in plant propagation, topics of the day, and much much more!
The event will take place at the CSIR International Convention Center, Brumeria, Pretoria from the 21st until the 22nd.

How to farm God’s way
Farming God’s Way will be hosting a training held in four sites in the Durban area from Tuesday, 21 February to Thursday, 23 February.
This training runs in conjunction with Farming God’s Way infield mentoring for leaders. You can review the four training events and choose the location closest to you. There is no cost for the training, but you will need to bring your own lunch unless you are going to the Umhlali site.

Water Rights Summit
Renowned agricultural lawyer Katlego Ngwane and other experts share insights into some of the hottest water rights dilemmas facing agriculture, including the transfer ability and trading thereof. The first edition of this three-day summit will kick off in Centurion!

The Cannabis Paper launch
The institute of economic justice invites all farmers to the launch of “The Cannabis Paper.”
The paper is the first of its kind in a sector with limited publicly available data. It contributes significantly to debates about policy reform and industrial strategies for the South African cannabis industry.
The paper focuses on two key challenges: first, achieving forms of industrial growth and international competitiveness that create decent work; second, building an inclusive cannabis economy in which traditional cannabis growers and small enterprises can participate.
