Organisers of the Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba have released an additional 50 tickets for the sought-after event on 15 and 16 September at Hotel Sky in Sandton, Johannesburg. This, after the initial 200 seats were booked out within a week after the indaba’s announcement.
While maximum capacity has already been reached in the sixth-floor auditorium, new bookings will be accommodated in an additional venue on the first floor. These attendees will follow the indaba via a livestream, but still join the other attendees during the scheduled time for exhibitions, networking sessions and lunches.

“It wasn’t easy, but we managed to make a plan,” says Food For Mzansi co-founder and editor-in-chief Ivor Price. “In the last month we’ve been inundated with requests from young farmers and agripreneurs who couldn’t reserve their seats in time. We’re working on a first-come, first-served basis and urge interested parties to book urgently.”
The Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba features the who’s who of South African agriculture. From Kgampi Bapela, the head of agro-processing and agriculture at the IDC, to Thabi Nkosi, non-executive chairman of the Land Bank, and Agbiz chief economist Wandile Sihlobo, attendees can look forward to a life-changing experience.
They will deliberate on the hot topics facing the agriculture sector such as blended finance models, climate change and access to land.
“We’ve also made doubly sure to invite many movers and shakers who can help attendees to fast-track their journeys towards commercialisation in agriculture. Bridgit Evans, who heads up the SAB Foundation, is on the line-up along with Maude Modise, the general manager for enterprise and supplier development at the Shoprite Group. Agri Enterprises will be represented by Omri van Zyl and Sulaimaan Patel.”
