According to Egypt’s ministry of agriculture and land reclamation, Egypt’s agricultural exports totaled over 5.2 million tonnes from January to November 2021. It is up by about 600 tonnes from the same time the previous year.
Egypt exports 350 different agricultural goods to over 150 nations across the world. Citrus, potatoes, onions, strawberries, pomegranates, potatoes, beans, beets, guavas, peppers, mangoes, garlic, grapes and watermelons were among Egypt’s agricultural exports.
Citrus was the largest exported commodity, with 1.8 million tonnes, followed by potatoes with 620 769 tonnes, according to the minister of agriculture and land reclamation Sayyed Quseir.
Egypt is the world’s largest supplier of citrus fruits. Oranges account for over 80% of Egypt’s total citrus production.
The Egyptian agriculture ministry has devised a strategy based on three primary axes to boost agricultural exports: creating new markets in new countries, checking quality and raising farmer awareness.
In order to produce a complete digital map of export farms, the ministry also plans to implement a new system for automating and coding farms across the country.
With the use of the most sophisticated technology, such as elevating the coordinates of farms using GPS, this digital map gives a full database on farms.
Technical guidelines for appropriate agricultural practices, as well as unique requirements for nations importing Egyptian agricultural goods, are also available through the system.
