Hey, farmers! It is a big week in agriculture. All agricultural roads lead to this year’s Nampo Harvest Day. But as always, remember to set your reminder for this week’s Gather To Grow Twitter session brought to you by Food For Mzansi.
On Tuesday, high school learners are invited to Food For Mzansi’s tent at Nampo to discover careers in agriculture, while farmers and agri role players are invited to discussions with Land Bank. This will take place from Tuesday, 16 May to Friday, 19 May.
On Wednesday, there is a livestock auction in KwaZulu-Natal, while Thursday offers an agricultural ministerial conference. Friday ends with a livestock information day, and a reminder to attend a cannabis industry day in Johannesburg.
And we will close off the week with fun activities! First up is a Farmers Information Day in Vryheid, Northern KwaZulu-Natal. This will be followed by a Cheeba Africa Industry Day on Saturday.

Discover careers in agriculture at Nampo
All agricultural roads lead to the 55th Nampo Harvest Day in the Free State. From 16-19 May, Food For Mzansi will have two tents at the event. On Tuesday, learners can explore their dream career in agriculture, with 15-minute talks on various topics scheduled every hour. The programme will kick off at 09:00 every morning until Friday, featuring Peritum Agri Institute in Bloemfontein.
Nampo: Thought-provoking talks with Land Bank
Food For Mzansi, in partnership with Land Bank, invites friends of the agriculture sector to participate in a series of thought-provoking lunchtime conversations at Nampo Week in the Free State.
The free midday talks, which include a light lunch, aim to provide valuable insights and information on various aspects of agricultural finance and the bank’s future. The sessions will take place at the Food For Mzansi tent, located at gate 2 of Nampo Park in Bothaville, Free State.

Livestock auction in KZN
The Cooper farm in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal is back with its monthly auction, which takes place every third Wednesday of the month. This serves as a good opportunity for farmers to also network with each other and potential markets.

ASARECA Agricultural Ministerial Conference
The Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in East and Central Africa (ASARECA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), is organising the ASARECA Agriculture Ministerial Conference.
Fourteen agricultural ministers are expected in Uganda ahead of the 2023 Agricultural Ministerial Conference.

KZN hosts livestock information day
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and rural development is hosting a livestock farmers’ information day. This is said to be an excellent opportunity for farmers to connect with industry experts and explore the latest on livestock farming.

Cannabis industry day
Get ready for an informative day on all things cannabis. Hosted by the Cheeba Cannabis Academy, the industry day in Johannesburg is about connecting with like-minded people in the industry who really want to explore the cannabis industry.
