We start this week by saving a date for an exciting Food For Mzansi event which will focus on an important topic of food systems innovation, followed by a short course on poultry production. On Wednesday, we move to North West for a livestock auction.
As we prepare to wrap up the week, we focus on the African Farmers Association of South Africa’s webinars on the poultry and red meat industries. On Friday, we close the week with another save the date for the Agricultural Research Council’s Master Dairy Awards.

Food Systems Innovation Workshop

Afasa’s Poultry and Red Meat Webinars
The African Farmers Association of South Africa (Afasa) will host poultry and red meat industry webinars throughout the month.
On poultry, the webinar will focus on challenges and solutions for poultry farmers, bulk buying of products like inputs, and funding opportunities amongst other topics.
On red meat, the webinar will focus on collective marketing (auctions), animal health and disease management, animal nutrition and agro-processing.

ARC Master Dairy Awards
This prestigious competition, which celebrates outstanding performance by South Africa’s top dairy farmers, is recognised by key stakeholders as a highlight of the country’s agricultural calendar.
Winners are awarded in various categories to acknowledge the country’s most outstanding achievers in breeding genetically superior animals, using performance recording and performance testing as tools.
