Register for Combined Congress 2022
The Combined Congress is a three-day, annual congress of three scientific societies, including Soil Science Society of South Africa (SSSSA), Southern African Society for Horticultural Sciences (SASHS) and the South African Society of Crop Production (SASCP). The subject of this year’s congress is “What is the new normal for agriculture to ensure sustainable livelihood in Africa?”.

The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA)
The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) takes place this Monday and aims to unpack global agricultural and food policies. The forum takes place over five days and sees around 3 000 participants from various sections of society taking part.

Water and sanitation minister visits Northern Cape
The minister of water and sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, as well as deputy ministers David Mahlobo and Dikeledi Magadzi, will be visiting the Northern Cape for a three-day assessment session of the province’s water and sanitation systems. They will be meeting with the Northern Cape premier, Zamani Saul.

Exploring integrated land use implementation
The BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) is hosting a two-series webinar on implementing integrated land use initiatives for sustainable development. Register for Land Conference 2022
The Institute of Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies at the University of the Western Cape, or PLAAS, is hosting the 2022 Land Conference, in partnership with the University of Cape Town and Wits University. The conference takes place from 23 February 2022 and focuses on the issues around tenure security, customary land rights and dispossession.

Join the CRI Postharvest Workshops
Citrus Research International (CRI) is hosting a number of workshops across the country to prepare the citrus postharvest industry for the upcoming season. The first two-day session kicks off in Limpopo on Thursday, with the last workshop taking place in the Western Cape in February.

Ninth Something Meaty Production Auction
Something Meaty is hosting their ninth production auction this Friday. On offer are 130 Dormer and Suffolk rams, 70 Suffolk ewes and 30 Dormer ewes. There are also 200 commercial ewes on offer. The auction will also take place online, on SwiftVee.

2022 South African Dairy Championships
Entries for the country’s older dairy competition is back and dairy producers from across the country are invited to enter. With more than 100 classes for cheese, yoghurt and other dairy products, participants compete for the title of SA Champion, the Qualité mark of excellence, and the ultimate Product of the Year. Entries close on 1 February 2022.
