Agri Gauteng, in partnership with Agri SA and Agri Ent, has announced that the sixth annual Agri Gauteng Agricultural Ekspo will be held from Wednesday, 20 to Saturday, 23 September at Lavender Kontreimark in Wonderboom, Pretoria.
The Agri Gauteng Agricultural Ekspo is a multifaceted trade exhibition that brings together farmers, industry specialists, and enthusiasts from across South Africa. With a focus on showcasing the latest products, services, and technologies, as well as providing educational opportunities and practical training, the ekspo is a must-attend event for anyone involved or interested in the agricultural sector.
Organisers say this year, the event aims to achieve two primary objectives that are crucial for the growth and development of the agricultural industry.
Enhancing agricultural ventures through networking
Firstly, it seeks to introduce attendees to the intricacies of the existing agricultural value chain. The ekspo is set to provide a platform to connect with established farmers, communities, and organisations. Through networking opportunities, participants can forge valuable relationships and partnerships that can enhance their agricultural ventures.
Agri Gauteng chief executive Thinus van Zijl says, “Additionally, the event will highlight the importance of technology in modern farming practices, offering insights into the latest advancements and their implementation. Understanding available markets, production techniques, logistical aspects, and financial management are also key areas of focus during the event.”
Exposure to practical components, training and development
He adds that secondly, the ekspo aims to provide practical exposure, training, and development across various farming disciplines. Livestock, crops and gardening, alternative energies, wildlife, beekeeping, and machinery and equipment are just some of the areas that will be covered.
“Expert-led workshops and demonstrations will educate attendees on livestock farming techniques, including pig farming, dehorning and branding of cattle, and on-the-hoof judging of various breeds.
“The ekspo will also delve into the fascinating worlds of beekeeping and wildlife ranching while shedding light on innovative practices such as vertical farming, hydroponics, and the responsible use of chemicals,” says Van Zijl.
Whether you are an established commercial farmer looking to expand your knowledge, an up-and-coming farmer seeking new opportunities, or a young agricultural student eager to learn and grow, the Agri Gauteng Agricultural Ekspo has something for everyone. This event offers a unique chance to gain first-hand knowledge of current best practices, discover new breeds and products, and connect with industry experts who are at the forefront of agricultural innovation.
The gates to the ekspo will open at 09:00 daily, providing ample time to explore the wide array of exhibits, engage in discussions with experts, and attend various workshops and demonstrations. Purchase your tickets in advance online at a cost of R50 per person. For those who prefer on-site registration, tickets will be available for R80 per person at the gates.
A chance to immerse yourself
Van Zijl concludes, “Don’t miss out on this exceptional opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of agriculture and be part of a vibrant community dedicated to sustainable farming practices, economic growth, and poverty alleviation. The Agri Gauteng Agricultural Ekspo (yes, it is spelt correctly) promises to be an enriching and inspiring experience that will leave a lasting impact on your agricultural journey.”
