Hot on the heels of the Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba, high-potential farmers and agripreneurs are now invited to an investment readiness event called Mzansi Match. Happening on 26 and 27 October in Johannesburg, they will be connected with leading funders, accelerators, banks and suppliers.

Food For Mzansi co-founder Ivor Price says the event is presented on recent demand of farmers and investors who are hungry to clinch business deals that can help move the agriculture sector forward.

“Mzansi Match offers an opportunity to enhance the resilience, sustainability, and productivity of the agriculture and food sectors. We’re fully aware that the importance of these sectors to the country’s GDP growth shouldn’t be discounted. It remains one of the primary drivers of economic growth,” he says.

What to expect at Mzansi Match

Attendees can expect an exciting programme which will get them investment-ready and align them with funding allies. They will be helped to sharpen their pitches, connected with advisors who know all about available funding options, and perhaps even be matched with an investor.

Mzansi Match is a two-day event, but attendees can decide whether they will benefit most from the first or second day, or even both days.

On day 1 – Wednesday, 26 October 2022 – they can expect an investor readiness and pitching masterclass. The programme is designed to accelerate the number of financeable propositions of SMEs in the agriculture and food sectors. Also, in the room will be some of the top banks and development financiers who are scouting for high-potential farmers and agripreneurs who wish to level up.

On day 2 – Thursday, 27 October 2022 – attendees will hear from leading suppliers about the kind of farmers and agripreneurs they’re hoping to be matched with. Suppliers are typically selected based on their ability to deliver quality products on time and with integrity, while also meeting market demands. The experts in the room will guide you every step of the way.

Attendees will be helped to make the proper preparations to become attractive from an investor’s perspective and hopefully also receive funding. They will get to meet an impressive range of different stakeholders to see, for example, what their financial offerings are, which areas they specialise in and what their cost structures looks like. While the organisers cannot promise attendees investment, it will guide them to hopefully find the right match-making partner.

THE NEW FACE OF SOUTH AFRICAN AGRICULTURE

With 21 global awards in the first six years of its existence, Food For Mzansi is much more than an agriculture publication. It is a movement, unashamedly saluting the unsung heroes of South African agriculture. We believe in the power of agriculture to promote nation building and social cohesion by telling stories that are often overlooked by broader society.
