Following a prosperous 2023, Agri SA Enterprises is preparing to launch the third phase of its Women in Farming initiative.
In this podcast episode, project manager Mareli Prinsloo and project administrator Aisha Dhaler reflect on the achievements of phase two, sharing insights gained and outlining the targeted objectives for the upcoming phase.
Prinsloo highlighted the importance of collaboration for the success of the Women in Farming initiative. In addition to aiding women in achieving their goals, it encourages them to proudly advocate for their businesses.
Project bears fruit
“It is with great pleasure that we can say all ten of the phase 1 winning businesses that proceeded to phase 2 resulted in successful [ventures] after the phase 2 close-off, thus becoming self-reliant agripreneurs,” she explained.
Prinsloo further underscored the experiences of three women who, despite their circumstances, excelled during the programme and displayed initiative.
Meanwhile, Dhaler provided insights into phase 3 and outlined key objectives to continue supporting the women throughout their journey. “The main objective with phase 3 and what makes it different from [the previous phases] is that farmers must use the revenue they generated in the previous phase and reinvest into their enterprise,” she elaborated.
She added that the only difference is that the funder may consider matching the amount reinvested into the business.
In this episode, they also discuss:
- · Reinvestment strategies;
- · Expanding on business management skills and more.
