Nestled in Limpopo, the Bokamoso Farmers Academy is more than an educational institution, it’s a beacon of hope for aspiring farmers.
Founded by Thys Tjale and managed by James Tjale, the academy’s comprehensive courses and youth-driven vision aim to nurture the next generation of agriculturists, transforming local communities.
In this episode, they tell us more about the academy, their diverse programmes and more.
Endless opportunities
Thys kicks off the conversation by explaining what Bokamoso Farmers Academy is and what they offer. The institution is a registered training provider with AgriSeta, BankSeta and Qtco.
Thys says they have partnered with the Mpumalanga department of agriculture, providing mentorship for farmers in the region.
“We also provide training services for ZZ2, which is one of our biggest clients. We also do training for Easy Grow, which is one of the best seed manufacturing companies in Mpumalanga,” Thys says.
Spoilt for choice
He also shares more about their passion for agriculture, while James shares why Bokamoso should be every aspiring farmer’s first choice when it comes to agri education. He also unpacks the various courses they have on offer.
Apart from plant and animal production, Bokamoso also offers niche training courses such as pest control operations.
“Those things are very important in the agricultural field because if you are a crop farmer, for example, you need to apply insecticides and fertilise. For you to understand different pests that could easily affect your crop, you need to enrol for courses like pest control operations,” James explains.
In this episode, Thys and James also discuss:
- Sheds light on the structure of the programmes and costs;
- Working with other organisations;
- Plans and more.
