Excitement is building as Food For Mzansi’s popular AgriCareers roadshow is set to hit the Eastern Cape and North West in two weeks’ time. Last-minute registrations for these events – to be held in Kariega and Klerksdorp – are now accepted.

AgriCareers is South Africa’s only agriculture-specific travelling career exhibition for learners in grades 9 to 11, although many schools opt to also send their matriculants who greatly benefit from the programme.

The three-year-old Food For Mzansi initiative is powered by Laeveld Agrochem and held in partnership with different educational institutions and enterprises, including Standard Bank and King Price Insurance.

At the events, learners are introduced to the A to Z of study and career opportunities in the agriculture sector and also meet a great diversity of young professionals who share tips on getting into the fast lane to success. From farmers to economists, accountants and even journalists and plant scientists, learners get a rare opportunity to discover a world of future possibilities.

Want to attend AgriCareers?

The Kariega (previously Uitenhage) leg of the AgriCareers roadshow is scheduled for Tuesday, 2 August 2022 at Hoërskool Brandwag. Two days later, on Thursday, 4 August, the exhibitors will be at Keurhof School in Klerksdorp. Each attending learner gets a goodie bag and a snack pack.

Schools who wish to attend any of these exhibitions are urged to email Food For Mzansi at info@foodformzansi.co.za or call Meagan van der Vent on 021 879 1824. You will be asked to supply the following information: name of school, number of attending learners and educators, and whether you will be attending the 08:00 to 11:00 or 12:00 to 15:00 session.

Learners attending the session that kicks off at 08:00 must arrive from 07:30 onwards for the programme to kick off promptly. Those attending the 12:00 session must arrive from 11:30.

Food For Mzansi co-founder and editor-in-chief Ivor Price says, “The agriculture sector offers the greatest potential for alleviating youth unemployment. Our AgriCareers events are high-energy and jam-packed with information to help learners discover possibility in a country where many others have lost all hope.”

THE NEW FACE OF SOUTH AFRICAN AGRICULTURE

With 12 global awards in the first three years of its existence, Food For Mzansi is much more than an agriculture publication. It is a movement, unashamedly saluting the unsung heroes of South African agriculture. We believe in the power of agriculture to promote nation building and social cohesion by telling stories that are often overlooked by broader society.
