The stage is set for a ground-breaking sixth annual African Agri Investment Indaba (AAII) at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. From Monday, 20 November to Wednesday, 22 November, visionaries and leaders from all corners of the agribusiness world will come together to explore the boundless possibilities that investment in agriculture holds for Africa.
Far too often, the African continent has been perceived as an unpredictable place for business – the battle of narratives is as important as the battle to secure private sector investment in African food and agriculture.
The indaba, which is organised by the African Agri Council, a pan-African institution that promotes the development of sustainable food and agriculture in Africa, will focus on “achieving food security through private sector investment: the battle of narratives”.

Fostering alliances
The indaba will feature the second edition of the DFI Forum, Banking and Microfinance In Agribusiness Forum, high-level policy discussions where forward-thinking policy and development priorities are presented and assessed, Investment Discovery Sessions, strategic closed sessions as well as food and agribusiness CEO panels.
Land Bank’s CEO, Themba Rikhotso is scheduled to participate in one of the CEO panels focused on finance and investments. Some of the points Rikhotso will highlight include the pivotal role of partnerships in aligning multiple sector players to create value for farmers.
“[Also] the significance of innovative funding approaches, with a specific focus on Land Bank’s successful positioning. As well as exploring the offerings, products, and services provided by Land Bank and providing recommendations for fostering the future success of the sector,” said Rikhotso.
Meanwhile, Ronelle Louwrens, a senior executive at the Food For Mzansi Group, will facilitate a panel discussion with top players in agribusiness. “I’m thrilled to host the Agribusiness CEO Fireside Chat, where we’ll explore the recipe for success in agri-production leadership. I’m eager to connect with the best in agribusiness and harvest user-friendly knowledge from these go-getters and doers of the industry.”
