Meet Arnaud Lamoër, a data capturer at Rhodes Food Group. While his heart beats for agriculture, there’s a dream tucked away in the back of his mind that has been gathering dust for far too long.
“I love agriculture but it has always been my dream to be in the music industry. I’ve always wanted to be a drummer,” he confesses.
Thanks to Agri’s Got Talent, Lamoër is now one step closer to his dreams.
Hailing from the small town of Tulbagh in the Western Cape, this singing agri-worker has always felt shy about showcasing his talents. However, he is setting new goals that challenge him to step outside his comfort zone.
“I’ve set new goals for myself. Anything that scares me, I am not going to walk away from anymore. Never mind what the outcome is. I just don’t want to be scared anymore. So this is very personal for me,” he shares.
This new lease on life encouraged Lamoër to enter the Agri’s Got Talent competition and share his singing talent.
The Agri’s Got Talent competition is a prestigious platform that gives South African agricultural workers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their talents on a national stage and unlock incredible opportunities.

A caring heart for the farming community
Lamoër is like that quiet friend who prefers hanging out with a small group rather than a big party, and sometimes he’s socially awkward. However, don’t let his shyness fool you; he’s got a big heart.
“What matters to me is family and friends. My music also matters. I’ve always loved music from a young age.”
This singing farmworker not only focuses on his dreams but also deeply cares about the broader agricultural community.
“People in agriculture don’t always get the recognition and appreciation they deserve,” he says.
“As consumers, we see the final products in shops but farmers and farmworkers put in a lot of hard work. It’s like seeing the top of the iceberg but not knowing how big it is underneath.”
Lamoër believes agriculture is important for our economy and daily lives. He thinks we should pay more attention to the people who work in farming, as they are often overlooked.
“I want to give farmworkers an opportunity to be able to grow. Agriculture is a growing industry, and I like to see people grow.”
From making coffee to singing songs
An interesting fact about Lamoër is that he is also a qualified barista. “I used to make coffees with all these beautiful hearts and flowers. Making latte art was a passion I had once upon a time,” he reminisces.
Even though he has many skills, he has always been scared of singing in front of people.
“I’ve always wanted to be more confident with regards to my voice and singing. I really want to invest in my music. I think I want to be a musician one day. That is my personal dream.”
His love for music is deeply rooted in his upbringing, particularly in the gospel genre. However, don’t be fooled; this church boy loves a good love song.
“My favourite artist has always been Brian McKnight. I love the guy’s voice and his vocal abilities and what he can do with his voice.”
Lamoër says while he has a bit of classical training, he has always desired to be vocally trained.
“This is a huge learning curve for me, and that is what I am looking forward to most,” he shares.
On Friday, 11 October 2024, Lamoër will take the stage to perform in front of judges, aiming to win the Agri’s Got Talent 2024 title. You’re invited to come and cheer him on at the big gala final, happening at Dawn Mountains in Simondium. Get your tickets via Computicket.
