Toutele Agriculture College hosted its fifth graduation ceremony which was characterised by a surge of female graduates, and rural representation, and young people.

Founding director and principal Dr Gostina Malope said the college was growing and seeing a mixture of graduates was pleasing and remarkable.

Beacon of hope

“This graduation is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students. It’s not only a celebration of their achievements but also a glimpse into the future of agriculture,” she said.

Malope said the success of the graduates underscored the college’s commitment to empowering a new generation of agricultural leaders, especially women, rural communities, and the youth.

“The 2023 graduation showcased a substantial increase in the number of female graduates, reflecting the growing presence and influence of women in the agricultural sector.

“The college celebrated a high rate of youth graduates, demonstrating a promising future for the agricultural industry,” she said.

According to Malope, rural representation, which is the core focus of the college, saw a significant number of graduates hailing from rural areas.

“This is actually underscoring Toutele’s commitment to inclusive education and outreach,” she said.

‘Go make a difference’

Tukisang Senne, a visionary leader and influencer in the business and community development industry, motivated the new graduates to go out and make a difference in the sector and make a name for themselves.

Senne provided invaluable insights and inspiration to the graduates, emphasising the importance of innovation and sustainable practices in agriculture.

“I am deeply honoured to be a part of this celebration. The graduates today represent the future of agriculture, and I am confident that they will drive positive change in our industry,” he said.

Radio personality Siya Mhlongo applauded the graduates and urged them to work hard remembering where they come from and believe in themselves as they go out to conquer the world.

“It’s heartwarming to see so many talented graduates from diverse backgrounds come together to celebrate their success. This is a momentous occasion for all of us,” he said.
