There’s no doubt agricultural development is vital to economic growth, food security, rural development, social empowerment, and improving the overall well-being of the country’s population, including women.
An organisation that takes the development of farmers to heart is Agri Enterprises. In this episode, we’re joined by their acting CEO Pieter de Jager, who talks about what inspired him to work in agricultural development. He also gives an overview of Agri Enterprises’ current projects in agricultural development.
Women in Farming
“Agri Enterprises is the commercial arm of Agri SA established to initially execute projects under the fold of Agri SA but we also have different divisions like advisory services, corporate financing etc.
“The rural development division currently has three projects running at the moment. One of them includes the Women in Farming project looking at entrepreneurship development for 60 women working in agriculture. It’s a three-year programme in conjunction with Momentum and AgriSeta,” De Jager explains.
