Nervously sitting in the comfort of her home, Lungelo Sithole, a farmworker based in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, shares her hopes of winning this year’s edition of the Agri’s Got Talent competition.
She first heard about the show when organisers of the talent show visited her workplace during their reunion tour last year. Sithole was deeply inspired by a colleague who had previously taken the title home.
“I’ve always been afraid to enter competitions but I think this is my first step. I’m taking my first step,” she says.
Sithole has been named one of the top 10 finalists in the Agri’s Got Talent competition, a prestigious platform that gives South African farmworkers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their talents on a national stage and unlock incredible opportunities.
Sithole works at KMI Farming and describes herself as shy but becomes talkative once familiar with someone.
“I’m a very easy and calm person. I love my family. I don’t have many friends. I really love cooking and I’m great at it. I love doing makeup, I love doing hair, and mostly, I love music,” Sithole adds.
Dreams beyond the stage
Her favourite artist, Lloyiso, holds a special place in her heart. “He loves the kind of music that I love, and he’s a great singer,” she says.
Afro-pop, Sithole’s favourite genre, is an emotional refuge for her. “It’s a very emotional genre – it speaks to your emotions. Whenever I’m sad or angry, I listen to it and it calms me down. Afro-pop is full of emotions.”

Beyond her musical aspirations, she has always dreamed of making boss moves and owning her own farm. “I’ve always wanted to be a businesswoman,” she says passionately.
For Sithole, farming is more than just a job, it’s a way of life.
“Farming, to me, is more than just producing crops; it’s my source of living. My mother raised me with the money she earned from farming, and I joined because I love agriculture. I love farming, I love growing crops. I love it with my whole heart.”
As she prepares for the competition, Sithole looks forward to meeting new people, learning more about music, and most importantly, enjoying the experience. “I’m looking forward to having fun. And winning, of course.”
