African countries to set regional agri-food priorities

The 32nd session of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations’ Regional Conference for Africa is taking place this week and you’re invited.

This conference is being held in response to the growing number of Africans who do not have enough food to eat daily. This, as millions of Africans cannot afford nutritious food and countries continue to grapple with the economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the conference, the participating countries will share best practices and explore partnerships and opportunities for innovation and digital technology to transform agri-food systems, address food insecurity and climate change, and face other significant challenges.

Groundnut research and development

This one-hour webinar discusses recent findings on how a shrub that grows wild in the Sahel increases the yield of groundnut and other crops.

When planted at high density in farmers’ fields, these shrubs add biomass and natural irrigation to crops, boosting yield and creating a natural, potentially important resilience tool. Hear how researchers are working with farmer groups to test this technology in groundnut.
