From future farming and climate-resilient crops to carbon credits and renewable energy, the AfricArena Nairobi Summit will delve into a range of critical topics that are shaping the future of the continent.
Kenya is gearing up to host the summit, a key part of Africa Climate Tech Week, from Tuesday, 3 to Wednesday, 4 September. This event, which precedes the Africa Fintech Summit, is poised to be a pivotal event for Kenya’s start-up ecosystem,
Nairobi, fondly known as Africa’s Silicon Savannah, provides the perfect backdrop for over 20 of Africa’s top climate tech and green economy start-ups to showcase their ground-breaking ventures at the summit.
“We are thrilled to bring the AfricArena summit back to Nairobi with the support of our partners,” said Christophe Viarnaud, AfricArena CEO and founder. “We believe in the power of collaboration to ensure optimum success in building and strengthening Africa’s tech, innovation and investment ecosystem.”
The Africa Climate Tech Week, supported by AWS Startup, Silicon Overdrive, and GIZ SAIS, kicks off on Sunday. The AfricArena Nairobi Summit itself will be held at Shamba Events in Nairobi, Kenya.
Kenya, a prominent member of Africa’s “big four” tech hubs, plays a crucial role in driving East Africa’s phenomenal growth. In 2023, the country secured a staggering 94% of all funding raised in the region, cementing its position as Africa’s leader in attracting start-up capital.
“This is an incredible achievement, as last year, Kenyan start-ups attracted just under $800 million in funds, made possible by the country’s strategic reforms and conducive business environment,” Viarnaud said.
“We’re excited to see what is happening in Kenya, as so far, during the first half of 2024, Kenya continues to lead Africa in raising start-up capital, with Kenyan start-ups having raised over $200 million, which accounts for 32% of all start-up funding on the African continent to date.”
