The National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) congratulated and welcomed new board members following their recent appointment by minister John Steenhuisen.

The appointed board has effectively taken over their responsibilities as of 10 March 2026.

The NAMC stated that these appointments align with organisation’s mandate to provide strategic advice to the minister on agricultural marketing matters, promote equitable market access, and support the transformation and development of South Africa’s agricultural sector.

Strengthening governance

The newly appointed council will guide the organisation in fulfilling this mandate, ensuring that policies and programmes strengthen the agricultural economy, foster inclusivity, and contribute to national food security.

“The appointment of this board is a critical step in advancing the NAMC’s mission. I am confident that the diverse expertise represented will help drive transformation, improve market access, and ensure that our agricultural sector continues to grow sustainably for the benefit of all South Africans,” Steenhuisen said.
