Moorreesburg is preparing to once again become the heartbeat of Western Cape agriculture when the 92nd Swartland Show opens its gates from Wednesday, 2 September to Saturday, 5 September 2026.
Visitors from across South Africa can look forward to four action-packed days featuring championships, livestock competitions, top-quality animals, agricultural exhibitions, live entertainment, delicious food, and the unique country atmosphere that has made the Swartland Show one of South Africa’s premier agricultural exhibitions year after year.
The Swartland Show is far more than just an agricultural exhibition; it’s a celebration of the people, livestock, innovation and traditions that make South African agriculture truly exceptional.
Cattle section showcases ten breed championships
The cattle section promises to be one of the show’s biggest attractions this year, hosting 10 prestigious breed championships and bringing many of the country’s leading stud breeders to Moorreesburg.
Another major highlight is the popular Interbreed Championship, taking place on Saturday morning, 5 September, where the champions of each breed will compete for the Supreme Champion of the Show.
The section also welcomes two exciting new additions for 2026, the impressive water buffalo and the majestic Chianinas. These new breeds offer visitors a rare opportunity to experience something truly unique.

Learn all about small stock
The small stock section remains one of the show’s most dynamic attractions, offering an enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages.
This year’s programme includes the Swartland Show Boerboel Championships, which promises to be one of the section’s major highlights.
Visitors can also enjoy a sheep carcass-cutting demonstration, the popular sheep’s head feast, and a small stock information day focusing on nutrition, animal health, veterinary care, wool production, shearing, and livestock marketing.
The Western Cape Qualifying Regional Youth Show will take place on Wednesday, 2 September, from 12:00.
Young competitors will showcase their knowledge, skills and passion for agriculture by competing in 10 different disciplines. This important section plays a vital role in developing the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Horse arena promises world-class action
Horse enthusiasts can look forward to four exciting days featuring the Vlaamperd South African Championships and the South African Saddlebred Championship.
A spectacular highlight remains the impressive eight-horse hitch, which enters the arena on Saturday, 5 September. This breathtaking display attracts thousands of spectators from across South Africa every year.
A new item for 2026 is the introduction of miniature horses. These elegant and friendly animals are popular around the world, and their performances are always a favourite among visitors of all ages.
Entertainment for the whole family
The Swartland Show’s entertainment programme for 2026 promises to be a true feast for the senses. In partnership with Afrikaans op die Platteland, visitors can look forward to performances by some of South Africa’s most popular Afrikaans artists, who will light up the stage throughout the show.
