From Randfontein to rabbit farming, Masego Molefe is wasting no time chasing her agri-dreams. This Gautenger is officially the first person to grab a ticket for the 2025 Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba, happening on Tue. 1 and Wed. 2 April at Lavender Kontrei Market in Pretoria North.

Currently working in the financial sector, Molefe is gearing up to start her own rabbit farming business and says the indaba is the perfect place to kick things off. After watching this year’s indaba on YouTube, she knew she had to attend in person.

“I found the last indaba so informative, so I decided to buy a ticket early,” Molefe says.

She’s particularly eager to hear success stories and discover funding and partnership opportunities for youth in agriculture. “I want to grow my network and explore opportunities to start my journey in the sector.”

Early-bird tickets for Africa’s most exciting gathering of young farmers are now available online for just R575 for a two-day pass – saving you R145! This year, over 1 400 people attended, and Food For Mzansi is once again expecting attendees from across South Africa and beyond.

Though the indaba is the ultimate hub for young farmers, it also draws agripreneurs like Malibongwe Sithole, who runs a thriving gardening and landscaping business in Johannesburg. She was the second person to secure a ticket, eager to tap into the opportunities on offer.

For her, it’s more than just an event – it’s a launchpad. “It’s the perfect space to network, learn, and innovate,” she says.

So, what can you expect?

Food For Mzansi co-founder Ivor Price describes the Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba as the ultimate destination where ideas flourish, partnerships are born, and development opportunities open up.

He says, “It is the perfect event for young, forward-thinking farmers shaping the future of South African and African agriculture. It is a place where top farmers connect with industry leaders, creating an exciting space to network, learn, and get inspired.”

With 50-plus exhibitors expected in 2025 and the who’s who of agriculture in attendance – ranging from top-tier experts to game-changing CEOs – the event promises invaluable insights and opportunities.

The 2025 indaba will also be packed with hands-on masterclasses covering cutting-edge topics such as sustainable farming practices, and agri-tech innovations. Whether you are into precision farming or exploring niche markets, there is something for everyone.

THE NEW FACE OF SOUTH AFRICAN AGRICULTURE

With 21 global awards in the first six years of its existence, Food For Mzansi is much more than an agriculture publication. It is a movement, unashamedly saluting the unsung heroes of South African agriculture. We believe in the power of agriculture to promote nation building and social cohesion by telling stories that are often overlooked by broader society.
