Once a farmer has established what they will plant, when they will plant, how much fertliser is needed, etc., they need to determine to how much irrigation water is available and whether they have access to said water source.
Among a list of other things, Erasmus also unpacks driving up soil oxygen. “Oxygen is very important for root growth, and so giving too much water can negatively impact your production.”
